Notes - my ideas on what it takes to be a success
Planning is the key for our future, and these are my ideas for success.
Five years is long enough to see what we can achieve and not too long or the organization may become bogged down and lose sight of the overall objectives.
This is my vision of our five year plan.

Constant

Maintain as high a profile as possible in the community; continue to attend fetes, open days, display days, workshops etc; continue membership drive and fund raising.

Short term - within this year, 2007

Ensure the success of the J.V. Mulligan weekend, have the east wall of the Centre insulated and lined; open more days; filing system in place and working; cataloguing up and working; attend more educational seminars (meaning all members); members becoming more involved in day to day activities; more working bees such as maintain cemeteries; more field trips; space in Centre better organised.

Long term - 1 to 2 years

Have telephone and internet connected; install mail box at Centre; fit gutter guard.

Longer term - 2 to 3 years

Add a covered verandah/porch extension all along the north side of the building.

Even longer term - 3 to 5 years

The skies the limit. How about the roof covered with solar panels so we can have our own electricity, air conditioners, etc?
No part of any plan is set in concrete, we need to be flexible, be able to change direction when it is needed. Mareeba Railway Station is a point in question - after careful thought it was realised it would be too costly for us to proceed. Believe the place has been sold.
All big businesses have such plans, why do you think they become SUCCESSFUL?
Never throw anything away until you've checked.
Remember - once the history of a place is gone, destroyed or
neglected, it is lost forever.
